What to Bring to Your First Surf Lesson
Booked your first surf lesson? Nice work — you’re going to love it. The good news is you don’t need much, because we provide all the technical gear. Here’s a simple checklist so you turn up ready to have fun.
We provide the boards and wetsuits. Every Send It Surf Academy lesson includes a stable, beginner-friendly soft-top board and a wetsuit (plus rashies for the kids), so there’s nothing to buy or hire before you come.
Wear swimwear under your clothes. Arrive with your bathers or boardshorts already on — it saves time and means you’re ready to hit the water straight away.
Sunscreen. The Queensland sun is no joke. Apply a water-resistant, reef-safe SPF 50+ before you arrive, and bring it along to top up.
Water and a snack. Surfing is more of a workout than people expect. Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, and a light snack for afterwards.
A towel and a change of clothes. Somewhere warm and dry to change into after your session makes the drive home a lot more comfortable.
A good attitude. Honestly, this is the main one. You’ll fall off, you’ll get pushed around by a bit of whitewater, and you’ll stand up sooner than you think. Come in relaxed and ready to laugh, and the rest takes care of itself.
That’s it. Leave the rest to us — we’ll have the gear set up, pick the best tide for your ability, and get you standing up and riding waves at Peregian Beach. See you in the lineup!
